We believe that we have a responsibility to consider the environment, and minimise our impact in as many ways as possible.
Platonica use servers run on 100% Natural Power with all remaining CO2 emissions offset. Natural Power is a government accredited GreenPower product. (Please contact us if you would like to transfer your hosting to a greener option..cost from approx $190 AUD/year)
GreenPower is energy from renewable wind and solar sources in Australia and produces no greenhouse gas emissions in its generation.
To offset the remaining emissions generated by our hosting company's travel and waste, they plants trees through Carbon Neutral. The trees that are planted also restore atmospheric oxygen, help to control salinity and moderate the climate.
Apart from hosting we also believe little things make a difference and implement initiatives to reduce our own impact such as:
- Reducing paper waste and emissions by using electronic invoicing, time tracking and communications as often as possible
- Using low voltage and fluoro lighting
- Turning off appliances and computers at night
- Using LCD screens with time outs to switch off when not in use
- Reusing waste paper, envelopes and junk mail as notepaper
- Wearing more clothes instead of turning on the heater
